On April 29th, Toronto rapper Drake finally dropped his highly anticipated album “Views”.“Views” which was originally titled “View from the 6” (the 6 being Toronto) was announced all the way back in September. For his last mixtape, “If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late”, Drake took the Beyonce approach and did a surprise release. Therefore, fans were waiting anxiously since September. After a year of promotional singles, multiple features, a joint mixtape with Future and a bunch Meek Mill diss tracks, it was time for a complete album. After a hectic but exciting year, we got the album and it was worth the wait. “Views” has 19 tracks and bonus track “Hotline Bling” which is still impacting radio almost one year later. Some highlights from Views include a collaboration with PartyNextDoor called “With You”. As well as a collaboration with Rihanna called “Too Good”, their second collaboration of the year. Drake’s first billboard number one single “One Dance” featuring Wizkid and Kyla is of course on views. A lot of the songs on “Views” are heavily sampled from older songs by artists like Mary J Blige, The Winans family and more. “Views” is a solid album, but not very than anything else we have heard from Drake in the past. I enjoy how Drake is experimenting with Afrobeats, Dance-Hall and even going as far as to include Nigerian Singer/Rapper Wizkid on his album. I have only listened to “Views” a few times but so far my favorite songs are “Too Good” ft. Rihanna and Weston Road Flows. I am excited to listen to “Views” more so I can formerly review it, but for now I like what I hear.
